to the team i love the most:

I guess today was a day all of us will never forget. Somehow it seemed to affect alot of people and it really hit me hard too. What happened on land and in the water was something that seemed to have happened before, but i guess many of us never really felt the full impact of it till now. But after what sze and suling has said, i guess i don't really have much else to add on already. Just a little bit more.

The past year spent with the team has been one of the most fulfilling journey's i've ever experienced. There have been highs and lows, pain and joy. Put simply, an emotional rollercoaster. But i enjoyed it nonetheless. And now we only have about 3 months left to national schools. Our time left as a team in NJ is running out. But we have to make the best of it. Rowing with all of you has been the most enjoyable and inspiring experiences in my life. It just seems that out on the water, when the whole team is there, rowing together was just an unforgettable experience. Especially during dragonboat races when all of us are pulling together as one.

But this is what we really have to remember. No matter how much emphasis is being place on securing the points for the nat schools title. The most important thing is that we all row for one another and that everyone of us is supporting one another all the way. The most important thing is that we are still one team. We may be individuals in different boats. But it's really like a dragonboat. In your own craft, its not just you or the two of you there. There are 70 people on the boat. Pulling alongside you. When you feel that you just want to give up, be it in training or during a race, just remember that no one is going to give up on you, so there is no reason to give up on yourself. 70 people will be there by your side. Remember, we row together as one team. We must never forget our roots. The values we were first taught by our seniors. The selflessness, the correct attitude that was being ingrained in us. There should be no individualism in the team. Only if you row for others, will you find that you are able to go so much further.

I know everyone in the team is giving their best right now. So like vic said today, its really the effort that counts the most. When everyone gives their best, there will no longer be disparities. Look at effort, not at the speed at which your boat can go at. Maybe if all of us just forget about the expectations for awhile, get back the feeling of pulling for the love of the team and the sport itself. Just to enjoy the pure ecstasy you get when you're in the water and there is nothing else troubling you. The pure joy of seeing your teammates pushing their limits and knowing that everyone is on par in terms of effort. That's what really matters i guess.

To my partner bernie and other 3 k2 boats, although we may not always be training together. And its usually bernie and me with jas and char, you're still part of my craft. And the very fact that you are my craftmates mean alot to me. Please remember to pull for one another and help each other along. Thats the most important thing now. We really have to train together and make sure no one gets left behind. I'm sorry if i'm not always able to help you when we are rowing in the water. But don't ever give up on yourselves. I know your desire to improve will surpass all the barriers and obstacles in your path. If you can't do it for yourselves, at least do it for your partner. They are the ones who share your pain, tears and joy in the boat. To jas and char, thanks for being great training partners. Your boat really motivates me to work harder. Promise we will work together and give our best in every training ok? And to bernie, i'm sorry if i haven't been good enough. I promise i will definitely give my best and i treasure every training we have together as it is a chance for us to work on our weaknesses. Please bear with me and thanks for putting up with me for so long.

Ok i guess this is all i have to say for now. I love all of you very much. You're the ones that make my stay in the team worthwhile. Thank you. Stick together. One team. One dream.

To the sixteen of you;

After a few of you went up during debrief today, to point out how insensitive some of us have been, I went home to really think about this problem. I am really sorry cos I know im always one of those who push others to such an extent that I dont even know how they feel. Ive always thought that harsh methods work the best. Maybe it only applies to me.

To those of you whom ive let down,
Im really apologetic on what Ive done all along. Im in no position to question all of your hard work. Cos I know a lot of you put in much more effort than me in many aspects. I know you all have given your best in all the trngs, really.

About the juniors, its really great to see them improve so much over this short period of 4 months plus. You know it really makes me feels happy to see them mature in terms of attitude and also improve in their canoeing. It makes all the effort we've put in worthwhile. Personally, I dont like the idea of juniors catching up with me. This is because I think its jus not right. And I know all of you dont want that too cos you all know you've worked so much harder and longer than them. But sometimes, things jus dont work out that perfectly. Im really sorry to say that... but from now on, I believe that no matter what the boat speeds of you snr girls are, I will still respect you all. Cos the boat speeds dont mean anything to me alr. I think that what's most important is what you have put in in every of your strokes. It's the things that are going thru your mind when you are rowing. Who are you rowing for etc etc.

And jus to share with all of you, when I'm rowing, my whole mind is flooded with many thoughts (row for someone, something, somehow, somewhere). But actually I dont really know what exactly I'm thinking of. Everything is so messed up. Ironically, on those days when my mind is so focused thinking of a specific thing, I cannot perform. It sort of corresponds to what mr yong always says, when you anyhow anyhow, thats when ure at your best. I dont really know how true is that..

To my k1 girls,
It's really great trng with all three of you. All the trngs have been so tough but yet endurable (cos you all are around). Sometimes when I train with you girls, I can really feel myself trying to squeeze out energy from every single part of my body. From all my muscles to even my intestines.. thanks for always being so encouraging. I really love you all, dee nat su. Without you all, I wouldnt be typing all these, cos I would have alr died in one of those earlier trngs. Yupp thanks.

The main point of this entry is to tell you all that im sorry okays. I will wake up my idea from now on. If you all think I can ever help you all in any way, please tell me yeahhs cos I really want to help.

To all senior girls, thanks for always being there for me even though I'm such a bad girl. (:

sze

To my beloved senior gals team

Hey girls...
>
A lot has happened...not just in the past few weeks...but also in all the time we have ever known each other...about 13months now?...there has been joy,tears,anger,pride,compassion...but i guess we just lack teamwork. Of course, since we have 16 of us(yes sabu n charmaine are of coz counted!!!and i took the liberty of adding nat too... :] ...)...its not that easy...but i guess if we really want it, we can still be much more united then the present state...
>
There has been much contraversy on the difference in strength in each and every single one of us.Difference in strength...not fast enough...too slow...no catch...Bah!Watever...i feel that we have been too caught up in the spirit of competitiveness, and that has led us to start pointing fingers at each other.I believe that there is no one,no one at all, not even 1%,that is not training hard for the team.If you don't see the self training, the thoughts in their minds, whether they are trying their best...you dont have the right to say they are not pushing hard enough. Its good that the junior gals are stronger and are catching up, but i somehow feel that it is wrong that we just keep encouraging the junior gals only..and in the process, neglecting our very own batch.Maybe im wrong...but thats what i observed recently...im also guilty of this...so i apologise to those that i have not helped.
>
To me, this team is about effort, not talent.People with talent in this team will always be in front.Why?Simple...coz everyone puts in effort to their very best. This is what makes us strong overall.its very difficult, almost impossible for less talented people to catch up or even surpass other teammates...but do realise that i mentioned that the possibility is not zero.Remember in my previous post i mentioned believeing?i believe that i have the ability to defeat any opponent...as long as i can make myself believe that.but since thats what i think,it is only somewat like a fairy tale.Suling will never make it to the Olympics even if she believes 100% in being the best in the world...Yups...reality is harsh...but is'nt sports the field where we go against and defy reality, especially in this very team?
>
I dont think that i am talented in canoeing or running...but i think that i am talented in my willpower. This is what i hope for each and everyone of us.When you are behind, its most difficult to keep up,let alone catch up.So what?Who cares?I dont give a damn...ill continue to pull...focus on the boats in front...i will catch up.i will catch up.i will catch up! i dont even tell myself not to give up,bcoz i know i wont...no point reminding myself of that.
>
Do we let pple that train the hardest row or the fastest to row? This is the dilema we face every single race...even i dont have the answer. But i guess since the school has invested so much in us, we have the responsibility to give back what we have taken. We have to make sure that we are so strong overall that its ok even if everyone that deserves to row does so.Even if you are strong or not,if you want the best for the team, you just have to clench your teeth and whack.whack til you feel like dying, til you can give no more, til your body can no longer feel a thing. Here is how i noe if i have been whacking:when i feel like hell.Honestly,i could just take a visit to hell now and ill be like:oh training has been much tougher than this.
>
Most importantly is your very own craft...Dee,Nat and Sze have been there for me every training. When one of them is not there,i feel a tinge of dissapointment.Sometimes, ill be really lousy and lag behind...sometimes they'll wait, somtimes they dont. When this happens, the negative me will be angry and frustrated...i admit...but when i see everyone in front,i just cant stand being the weakest.i'm not here to be the worst to make them wait for me.im much better than that.i can do much more...so somehow ill level up again...(mayb i really increased in speed or they waited for me...i dont know..)but its really been hell.when i row beside them, feeling them going through hell too,i feel really happy...and that somehow pulls me through the hell training...really,your craft is really impt...dont neglect them,or training will become meaningless.Sometimes they will shout Come on!its like the most used encouragement words...till some have become numb to it...but each time they say it,for them, for that breath that they used to try and help me,no matter how cliche the words are,i really appreciate it...and it gives me strength. We may not be the best in terms of results in National schools, but whacking with the 3 of you...it gives be hope,to believe that we can do it.
>
Sorry...this entry was meant to help the girls senior team...but i ended up talking about k1s...but its bcoz i feel very much for this...and i hope all of you will be able to experience something like this...it really gives strength...not physically, but to row with your heart and soul...its the stuff that enables us to defy reality...to create miracles and believe.

Cross country nationals

WAHAHA...ただいま!
>
I'm back to wreck more havoc hehee...sori ive not been posting much...coz im computer-idiotic...so i couldnt get onto the blog without a google account haha...juz managed to decipher the wierdo symbols on the screen-[click here to create your google account!] and managed to get thru...yay!Lots of stuff have been happening...esp for me...but today about half my commitments have been lifted-cross country nationals and h3...i'm free!!!-or at least i'm 50% free!!!
>
About cross country nationals...running not equals canoeing, but i thought i would share that running experience with all you pple...maybe it'll inspire you to run a faster 2.4km or 24marathons or something...18April2007-woke up feeling really really good(slept for 9+hours...snore*)came to school...thanx to all you great pple for wishing me luck...and also the occasional threats:you better run fast or else!If you dont win you die!(me:weak smilez*...heh heh...thanx...) but anyway...i was a little worried about the race...coz the previous race i didnt do so well...(started abit faster than usual...then halfway i sorta gaveup and slowed down...still dun get why i was so weak at tat time... >.<>
>
i burst out...think its coz of all the sprinting in the water...high cycle higher cycle highest cycle!then i realised i was sorta leading...opps...guess thats the few moments in my life i was 1st in national schools cross country(for about 10m haha) so slow down abit...follow the pack....just keep to other pple pace...reach the slope...grrr....no sweat...one step by one step...stick to the person in front...thought of shien for a moment coz last year she ran the slope with me and gave me lots of encouragement...it helped.after the slope...its the horror area where your body starts to feel the lactic and your will starts to waver...but somehow,i didnt feel all that...in fact, i felt rather good...(i muz hav gone bonkers at that point)managed to estimate how many pple in frnt of me...bout 20...(i was aiming for the coveted top 20 spot)i have a chance!...somehow that cheered me on and gave me a glimmer of hope...all i needed to do was not to give up and finish the race...simple enough?nope...suling is a greedy girl...
>
Who cares who or what was in front of me...i just ran and ran...1.aim for the person in front...2.catch...3.overtake...4.pull away-make the person think:"hoo is this crazy idiot?let her be...i'll catch up 'later' "ok...i juz kept repeating steps 1-4...usually about 3quarters of the way ill start to tire out again...then ill think of friends to keep me going...but i think that day i was so focused on steps 1-4 that i sorta totally forgot to think about all of you... >.<>
>
Some people say im super fast...but its not true...i feel that long d running is more than style or talent...mental really played a role...if i had not suffered and gone thru so much grueling training with our canoeing team, i doubt that i could have convinced myself that i was
NOT TIRED during the race...of course...i would like to thank the cross country team...MrIrwan(for the 3km timetrial which is the most excruciating run in my life) and MrLim.And most most most of all...all those that have wished me well,or wanted to wish me well but didnt have the chance to,or wanted to wish me well but it came out as"you better win or DIE!!"(even though i didnt think of you pple during the race,b4 the race it helped me a lot...giving me more courage and one more reason why i must not and could not giveup....) In conclusion(urgh...i thought these 2 words only appear in econs essays haha)one theory ive come up is...if you believe, miracles (no matter how impossible) do come true...but the more impossible thing is believeing, not the miracle. Its really hard to make yourself believe that you can do so much more...to force your body to listen to your mind instead of the other way around...i guess pple around me(yes...you...)that give me support, believeing in me,hoping for the best for me...play a great part in making me do the almost impossible...believeing.
>
Hmm...ive not figured how to operate the czup blog yet...so i guess ill still be renting this place for my thoughts and non-thoughts...until next time...またね!

Happy CNY!

Happy CNY!!!
>
Yay im back...no not due to the guys feedback about this "dead place"...opps...scratch tat...its inauspicious...Yes pple-It's tat time of the year again...the festival where money is abundant(only applicable to those yet to tie the knot hehee...), food filling my house cabinet and overflowing...(straight into my mouth) and no housework!!!(coz the broom is sort of banished in the storeroom) The only thing i dislike is the continuous chinese new year songs...Cai Shen Dao...He Xin Nian...Gong Xi Gong Xi Gong Xi Ni!...Argh...i have a headache already...like a GONG banging on my head...n my mum had to play the whole disc over n over n over again like a jukebox during the steamboat dinner just now...no wonder i din eat much...Y cant chinese new year songs be in Jap?!Its unfair...next time if i become the next Pop idol...i'll sing Japanese new year songs...Wahahaha!!!
>
About food...all of you are highly advised to refrain from whacking all out...plz hold back n do pacing with your family member that eats the least new year goodies...try not to get too drunk n wreck the com while reading blogs...besides...its ILLEGAL to drink at YOUR age...with the exception of ME and probably zhikai...hehee...speaking of eating...the trip at Sakae sushi was an eye-opener for me...i used to watch eating competitions on TV...but yesterday...seeing it live...WOW!...din noe we had so many capable teammates...As i was nearest to the conveyer belt...i was sorta in charge of providing the sushi...so if anything passed by i'll ask if anyone wants it...but the thing is...b4 i could even say the dish name...Sabu would demand:Anything!Yes I WANT!GiveittoMEEEE!!!! and sometimes she will gime a heart attack-(pointing ambiguously in between two plates of sushi)Gimme tat! (Me:which one? Sabu: Tat one!)-repeat process until i give up and take both plates...and meiqi was totally hugging the menu, every 5min she'll call the waitress and say:i want this this this this (point point point point)...and Bernie was stacking plates like Jenga...when bernie was too efficient...some of us were eating without plates...Cheryl was eating all the wierdest looking food lol...Sijing was practically eating from ever other plate haha...When i left...think we had 51 plates or something...but i dun think the hunger streak ended there...at some point i remember the waitress had to collect our plates coz they din have enuf....someone plz update me on the total no. of plates accumulated in our together round sushi(tuan yuan fan) feast?
>
On a heavier note, sometimes its not all fun and games...its also time during this break to reflect on wat we have done this year...the team is not strong enough...trial timings were dissapointing...morale isnt high...but i feel that this is something we must overcome. Training is a really general term...1 pushup is training,100 pushups is also training...the real difference lies in how effective your training is...throughout my training, i always make sure im fresh and focused...never compromise on form...if you cant even do this basic thing, you definitely lack fitness. Train like you mean it. i was once told to recall my toughest training. I remember it was in the T1 days...it was some resistance program...i was pulling real hard and was still lagging...but the T1 gals just encouraged me on...and after a super long and ultra difficult time it somehow ended...in the end i din managed to catch up dou...n as i look back...i would question myself:actually it didnt seem so difficult.i mean, i managed to complete it, but did i get a lot more stronger? This wasnt enough...esp since now coz of H3 and cross trining, even training on sundays for me usually doesnt let me meet the min requirement...ive learnt to treasure my trainings alot more.wheneva im tired, ill just remind myself of that resistance training...if i could pull through tat, and it wasnt even enuf, i'd better buck up and pull harder for this training...somehow, i must create strength mentally, from somehwere that is not physical...mind you,its not easy, and i admit i dont always succeed, but wheneva i manage to do it, i feel a sense of accomplishment-coz i din waste tat precious training time.
>
On a lighter note, i would like to declare war with the T1 girls!!!Rarw...dont you pple slack off...coz we are going to overtake you pple soon...as im saying this, im doing squats in front of the com while my dad is staring at me....haha...ok juz jk...but really, all Ks better put in more effort during training...we have a title to win this year! Aza Aza Fighting!

Thank You!

Hey pple!!!
>
No im not tat free to crap now...but i really have to thank you all!Today was totally a pleasant surprise for me...even though i accidentally found out about it hehee....i didn't expect it to be so wonderful....
>
...coz i saw some of you going downstairs...so i thought...hmm...we're going to celebrate at the pullup bar?so i was imagining you pple singing at the situp benches....hmm....so cheryl brought me down...walking in the general direction of the pullup bar...then she suddenly stopped at the very suspiciously closed gym doors...i was like...omg....you all are in there?!ok...after i got over tat and went in...i was first blinded by loads of grey pple....then when i could start to look straight and recognise pple...i realised something that really touched my heart...the whole J2/IP4 team was there....for me?ok...so some guys just came for the cake lol....but i was really shocked(in a happy way) (pardon my head-scratching...i do tat when im.....shocked) No offence guys...but i just thought tat only the girls would be there....so i really appreciate you guys for missing your lunch just to sing a not very intune but to me sounded like the-best-music-to-my-ears birthday song.
>
Of course, i can never forget you girls...buying the super delicious cake(although i don't really like cake it was damn nice) preparing it with the pretty candles (gosh there were so many candles....i must be getting really old...) singing a much better in tune bdae song(you do know choir is currently recruiting members right?)and just simply remembering it...
>
My birthdays were usually remembered by some pple and i celebrate it yearly...but this year is truly the most heart-warming one...(I was smiling like an idiot to myself on the way to my H3 lesson coz i was thinking of you pple...must have looked really demented...) damn im still smiling to the com as i type this....i cant thank you pple enough...but ill try again anyway....hehee... no this is not a string of funny jap syllables...its means thankyou everyone!!!
A smilingly demented Su*

Rarw-Bhish!!!

Hey pple!!!
>
I'm back for more word grafitti HA! okay recently i just got a new Kanji dictionary...and i was thinking of teaching you pple more Jap words...sounds interesting eh...okok...i hear the groans already...maybe the next blog entry ok?(damn is my hearing bad or i still hear groans...)Anyway...since i'm not teaching Jap, lets learn my singlish lingo...Lately, i've been using the word rubbish a lot...(pronounced RARW-BHISH!!!...) Like for example...clumsily drop a spoon-RARW-BHISH!...2 seconds later clumsily drop a fork-RARW-BHISH!...worst still...1 second later clumsily drop chopsticks of poor [name not mentioned for protection from caifan uncle] -RARW-BHISH!...if your IQ is at least 1, you'd figure out RARW-BHISH! is like a standard normal English word that can be used to be replaced standard head-turning Swear words....so instead of @#$%^&*0/~*<>?(ok tats all the symbols my keyboard can come up with) you can go RAWR-BHISH!RARW-BHISH!RARW-BHISH!!!!And pple wouldn't stare at you for being crude...but just think that you are the cleaniness rep or something....isn't that better?ok maybe not much...but i strongly encourage everyone to clean up their language with RARW-BHISH!(o i just realised the irony...)
>
Anyway...i'm just going to write an essay about "reasons of my soon-to-be frequent absence from this blog"...obviously coz i have to write more unfunny and boring econs and GP essays...come on lah...common test is coming...my true mugging nature is just waiting to be released from the depths of me....and i'll have to erase words like FREE/LEISURE/SLACK/LAG from my dictionary(from my english one of coz,not the kanji one...hmm wats the jap word for slack....okok...don't digress...)but luckily i get to keep RARW-BHISH! haha...for all J2s this will be a stressful time...although it may seem like its impossible...but thats what we NJ Canoeists do...achieve the IMPOSSIBLE...hang in there...and i'll try to post more RARW-BHISH! here to make life seem less impossible....hang in there!(either spiritually or on the pull-up bar make your choice...)
>
ARGH my inner mugging self is being let out now....no!!!!POOF*...me the mugger now talking:what am i doing here?!?!I should be finishing my Hydroxyl compounds 3 tutorial,Alternating current tutorial and revising chapter 9 of Econs...@#$%^&*...erm i mean....RARW-BHISH!!!

Fear...

Harlow!!!
>
2006 has come and gone...its time for a new era...yes...2007 will definately be much more exciting with (the release of more anime and manga!!!)...and of coz...the team :) if i ever forget to write that i'll probably get clobbered and never post ever again...(at least on this blog haha).
>
Recently,i've been wactching a new anime...titled "monster"...its a NC16 anime that is mentally disturbing...mostly about this sick guy(without flu) that goes around killing coldbloodedly...his most fav thing...seeing fear in humans...treating people like a line of ants and squashing them to create chaos(somehow this sounds really familiar to what is happening to those spraying the ants at macritchie...)yup...so today i'll like to share about my fears...
>
10th-notes full of doodles being burnt to ashes(technically carbon residue...but nvrmind)
9th-falling off the stairs in front of lots of people...
8th-falling off the stairs in front of lots of people...that know me...
7th-not being able to go Japan...i'll swim there if i have to...
6th-bringing an ipod to sch...without earphones...
5th-a manga being torn...noooo.....
4th-Hello Panda without chocolate filling!!!tastes really horrible...enuf to kill...
3rd-Whole world running out of Hello Panda!!!It better not happen....
2nd-Unable to train because of my 8th and 9th fear....
1st and most ultimate fear...you guys reading this blog and not laughing...
>
sweat palms*...well...those words were really scary to type out...pple usaully say its better to face your fears and overcome it...eh...in my reality...1st and most ultimate fear is physically and mentally impossible to overcome...so laugh...or i'll have to close shop and blog somewhere else under the pen name...erm...under the name...ling...wahaha...fear me!!!

Mah-n-gar

Hi again!
not been posting for a while...coz i was busy...really!Had to train,study for physics test,do homework,plan for Penang,read manga(pronounced MAH-N-GAR),watch anime(pronounced AH-NI-MEH),eat Hello Panda,sing in the shower,look in the mirror...lol...but anyway...im here...
Recently we had this game where we had to give a chrismas gift to whoever's name we picked...hmm...tats difficult...i noe!i'll give [insert name here] my autograph!!!hehee...in a few years,it will be worth millions of dollars...way more than the budget of $10...dun believe me?Thursday we just did the filming for the [censored]...in a few days when the video is made public even hayao miyazaki will ask me to be in his Ghibli film...yay!
Yesterday i went to the Chuangyi manga bazaar(dragged my whole family down wahaha)...they were like selling piles and piles of manga...i went in and was like stunned* the humongous amount of books was blinding in a gd way...i coundnt do anything...just stood there like a robot and went WAH***(grins...)seeing manga...touching manga...smelling manga...hearing manga(when i accidently dropped some off the shelf)...too bad i couldnt taste it...anyway...i dun think most of you would understand...except probably Victoria and joel...lol...but its ok...i've gotten used to all your non-expressionless stare when i mention Manga! or Anime! Its OKAY...sob*...hmm...maybe i should organise a manga appreciation class...interested pple call me k!!!plz....
In just 3 short days...yes you've guessed it...Penang!!!same as Dee..im not v esp excited or not excited...still thinking of ways to kill time in the 10-hr bus ride there and back...think ill bring my newly bought manga from the fair and a flashlight to read...duno hoo's the unlucky person sitting besidethis manga fanatic...i promise not to shine the flashlight at your face when u're sleeping...too often...lol...anyway...bout the race...are we up to it?there is only way to find out...there is no use predicting it...on that day...just...ROW...effort is much more important than skill if you ask me...even though they are interlinked some ways...but i would prefer all of us put in the effort to just move the dragonboat together than just think of the most efficient way to insert your paddle into the water...remember in a race, pple become retarded...even 1+1 may equal to 1...so dun think...just PULL!i dun particularly like DB v much...i declare it the most tiring and draining sport ever invented...but i really like the spirit that comes from it,or rather my teamates in it that make me push so hard that Db bcomes the most tiring and draining sport ever...thanx,all of you...btw...do you think Penang got sell any nice Manga???lol...

Su* See you all soon...when its time for the manga appreciation class....

i hope all you remember the primary purpose of going there is to RACE
not for all fun and play.
even though we're gonna have time for those,
i think all of us should be more hyped up about the race instead of the other stuff...
its not gonna be easy
be prepared to give your more than your all
you've got to do what others dont to acheive what others wontbe it a win,
or be it an all new experience/

the new line-up's out
like mr yong put it, its a challenging one.
we already know he'd never put the strongest line-up in any race..
but i honestly think this line up is good overall
i wouldnt say its strong
neither is it weak
it really cant be classified at a time like this
but one thing's for sure..
at the end of the day,
its what we make it to be
you want to give other schools a thrashing,
you first thrash all of them in your trainings.
your training attitude
desire
passion
mental toughness
what do you want?
and how are you gonna get it?
only you know..

i know many of you are trying very hard
i can see you all pushing so hard
it worries me when i see that yall are on the verge of puking and etc. ever so oftenly

to me,
mental toughness is still the most important thing.
when you're tough up there,
nothing elsewhere can get to you or put you down.

because your mind is prepared and ready for it
you'll be able to take it in your stride

i was just talking to my friend yuyan(shooting club president) that day..
he said that mr gilbert lee (their teacher in charge) is willing to give teams in nj mental training on the condition that our teacher in charge agrees to it..

hahah sabu, if you're reading;
just see if yall think this will be beneficial to our team ya?
he's kinda trained in doing it btw..

back in gan eng seng, we had mental training sessions too!
it was... exhausting
but i would say.. very useful to me
i love them (:
i kinda miss them actually

the mind works wonders

hahah okay im digressing like mad!
neway, i just wanna say:
dont be afraid/ have doubts bout this line up okay girls?
trust
believe
and have faith
in yourselves
in your team mates
in mr yong's foresight

give nothing but your best
everyone of us..

i always believe that everyone should be accountable, self disciplined and self motivated in your training.. yuppp (:

nothing comes easily;
nothing comes naturally either
i dono if some of you have the super wrong misconception that being in nj means you'll be a champion..
total rubbish

are you able to work harder than the previous champions?
that defines it all..

i have faith in yall

rmb to work on mental toughness during your trainings
try to incorporate them into your trainings!
dont forget k! ((:

each time you wanna give up,
just tell yourself
"that BIT more come on........"
"i cant stand quitters!"
hahah i always talk to myself secretly during trainings actually ;p
of course, alot more goes through my mind ahahah but they're not exactly uhhmm good to post. haha!!

yuppppp

we've got to step up our game
work like mad
give every drop of blood
all your HEART
and all your SOUL

..and thats not some cliche
i hope yall get the meaning behind it all

jiaayouu! (:

and to the guys team!
the girls are always behind yall okay!
(despite how MUCH you people always say stuff about us!! hahaha ;p )
all the way!

yawn*

Hey pple...
Im really tired...zzz...sdvnsn nkvlsdn ...opps...fell asleep on the keyboard...lol jokin.. juz exagerating...but the tired part is real...think this is the tired-est i have ever felt in my life...hmm...let me share the happenings of this 2 days...
3dec 5.30...dragged myself out of bed...half-sleepy eyed...then suddenly 6.30 im at the start line for the standard chartered half marathon...btw i was running w my dad...so start...then we ran at a rather comfortable pace...like our usual runs...trying to conserve...looking around, see if i can spot anyone i knew...aft like 40+minutes or something i spotted 9 yellow vests running in pairs...yes! it was our senior gals!!!my mind was blank...(im retarded when i run...honest)then i took like 3sec to shout out Brigette's name coz she was in front...and they turned to see a crazy me waving frantically at them...got really excited...so i started to pick up the pace...happily overtaking pple here and there(but tats coz we were rather behind)until we reached the durian infrastructure...completed 15km!tats was like my record of longest distance ran...but after passing it,my soles started to feel dull ache...then gradually every step in contact with the ground was painful...not to mention the knee ache since 8km...but of coz i wunt stop juz coz of tat...i came to finish...by 17+km think my dad started to feel tired...but we still continued on...then we left like 2km according to the very doubtful signs...and we were about 14min to 2.5hrs...so i bluffed my dad and said we only left 12min!!!(actually we were aiming for 2hr45min...but aft 15km we were trying 2hr30min)So i was like come on...faster...think he almost died..opps...but at least we did speed up for the last km or so and managed a comfortable stride to the finish line...i loked at my watch...not a sub 2hr30min...but a 2hr30min nonetheless...to be exact...2hr30min34sec.This is my longest continuous running time...okay...i noe ive rowed like 4hrs in the canoe marathon b4...but this is different...im not sitting on my butt and swinging my arms...in running...you have to move your legs AND swing your arms...lol...and i promised myself not to walk...it wasnt juz about completing the distance, but to run it.
On the way...there was like lots of 1ooplus and water...its like there is ABSOLUTELY no way you can get dehydrated...drown probably...but not die of thirst...the trick was how to drink AND run without knocking down anyone AND not spill 100plus on yrself AND get water in your nose...of coz...i didnt succeed...so there was probably a trail of ants following me as i ran...
Anyway,it was a good experience and sorta a sneak preview to what a marathon is like...thinking bout this...im sorta determined to do the full thing next year...although there will be A levels, think ill train at least 15-20km...if i cant take it the walk lor...main aim next year is to finish!
4Dec 7.30am carrying boats outside the shed...muz have not recovered yet although i slept a record total of 9hrs...coz i was breathing hard juz carrying the T1s...then the run...i felt like i was dragging a stone...and when they said stride i was......[sensored comments].....suddenly i cant run fast...so glad when dynamics came.and now,we go onto the main programme...1km,900,800,700,600...alone...quite tiring...coz i was rowing with not much aim...juz trying not to let the raptors beat me by too much...but b4 reaching the 800m set i somehow managed to catch up with mr.yong's T1...and somehow he ended starting that set with me...so i whacked really hard...trying like mad to beat him...i guess i managed to, but my form was way off...so i guess it wasnt so useful...and when heading back...it wasnt much recovery...we were still rowing like in warmup round...then before i turn finish he was like GO!then subsequent sets he told me to slow down and focus on pulling the water...arghh!i was trying...but he kept saying i wasnt...so i just tried and tried and tried. Finally we finished the 600m set...then he said:go to 500m...okay...yar...so we rowed there and did 400,300,200,100...last set was supposed to be high cycle...but aft 50m i felt like my arms were paralysed...and my right paddle kept getting sucked in...i was like-no way im gonna capsize and start the 1km sets again...so i was a little slower...although i was pulling as hard as my body would allow...and den i helped geraldine abit...and the additional milage in the bay...
On the whole...i think its a once in a lifetime chance to row one-on-one with mr.yong...it really pushed me to more than my max...i just wished i could push even harder...there is never enuf...one thing i remembered in my retarded state that he said in the 600m (or was it 700m set?) that he said...i ran 70km yesterday...i was thinking i only did 21...and i was in a k...so there was no way i was goin to lag...so i gritted my teeth literally and gave it all i had...Sorry sze...but mr.yong has beaten you to be the person that has pushed me the hardest in sprint sets...
And so...here i am struggling to keep my fingers moving...and opening my eyelids...being the most tired i ever felt...juz feel exhausted and lazy...think i might as well sleep at the keyboard...yawn*

Scratch*

Harlo!

Hehee...not been here for a few days...so my fingers were starting to itch...scratch*...anyways...today was the maths quiz...a total of 21 souls undertook that 1hr/60min/3600sec of brain diminishing ordeal...lol...okay...its not TAT bad...but guess it shows we are still not good enough to get full marks easily...for fellow physics students...a sentence of advice....study harder then you did for promos...plz...if not you'll die...then the study ics will die...which is hoo?oh yar...me.Damn.but of coz,bio students work hard too!coz the paper is set by the study ics!!!!yay...but another sentence of wisdom...none of us(the study ics) take bio...so if got anything wrong feel free to correct us...but of coz dun bluff us and say everything is out of syllabus...we are not as dumb as we appear to be...erm...maybe...argh...

One more thing!Scratch* Discipline...no slippers as usual...next time i see it in school with you strolling aournd in it...i..erm...i'll choke you to death...then conduct CPR to revive you so we can study more!!!hehee...If your shoes are wet...bring an extra pair of socks...wow...bet you never tought of tat before...besides...socks take up less space then slippers...socks can be folded and squashed into your bag...but not your slippers...i mean you COULD fold and squash your slippers in your bag...but tats not the point....Also(the list seems endless doesn't it....)the rubbish we leave around keeps piling up...the canoe area in the canteen already starts to look like the Kallang river...I noe we all miss dragonboat training...but not to tat extent rite...then everytime we'll just avoid the rubbish and sit further and further away from that area...soon,we'll be studying in front of the prata stall lol...but since now we'll be in the CA3/CA4...take care of it ok...i really dun want it to transform into insect park...i got nothing against ants, but if they are with a sadist like me...they'll suffer a fate worse then death(...no i wun do CPR on them...)
On a more personal note,Scratch* this sunday i'll be attempting the half marathon!!!Yippee...all suling supporters are welcome...remember to bring the huge "Go Suling!" banner and the pompoms...just line up along the finishing line...whistles are optional.I'm quite confident of finishing it,coz ive been running...and our milage trainings are sure to come in handy...wish me luck...and also hope tomoro OIC at Bishan will be a huge success!juz be careful not to disturb the dogs...if they bark at you...take my advice...just RARW...you'll hear it whining....(of coz when the owner not there hor...we still want their newspapers...)

Su* -scratch*(just realized it itches not coz too long nvr blog...but coz of mosquito bite lol)

REGATTA

Guess wat?Yeap...I'm back.First and foremost...Regatta.Ok..we didnt win...but i guess ive seen something else...i used to think tat you have to win to feel good...i know its wrong to think tat...but i always did.But yesterday...it was not the case. After rowing four 300m of dragon boat in two days...plus trudging in the CBD with coffee in your left hand, lifejacket in your right...n the 45 sets of simple...i had for a split second doubted if i had the strength to row as hard as the rest in the finals. But when the rest of the dragon boat team gave me such earnest looks and asked me,"are you ok?you still have the strength to row?"I had my answer.I guess tats wat pple call the inner strength.
In the boat, all ten of us were gearing up..encouraging each other...for the team...the girls boat A,mixed boat...and all the rest...even if SCF was on my right, inches away from me,i didnt feel a hint of intimidation...ATTENTION...UP!!!...and there went the air horn...all i cud do was follow flo and did my best to be aggressive...aft 20 counts...my muscles were tired already...and i was like...not now...i still have a lot to go...and somehow i managed to continue...with all the other 9 gals...hoo were not individuals or superstars...but a boat tat yearned to prove itself...to break all odds...to give its all...i guess the nxt sentence is:To win the race...but not everthing is a fairytale ending...and ours was no exception.
By 150m...i think SCF caught us...i wasnt sure when...all my mind cud do was to pull, pull, pull and pull my best...even b4 the end...when i saw SCF way ahead...i dont remember givning up...all i said to mtself was its not over yet...we must catch them!admist the scene of extremem pain...there wasnt much sound...only Franklin's drumming and i think i heard Charmaine shouting PULL!but it was those stuff, and the bond between us all...tat didnt require any outward encouragement...it was right inside all of us...and all of us never gave up until the finishing line...not a single one of us did.And for tat,i'm proud of you girls...proud to have rowed with you all.
Honestly...tats all i could actually remember...the rest was a blur...coz my memory shuts down when im in races or training...guess my brain degenerates when my body works out....but boat B, dont feel discouraged...B can stand for BEST if you all really work hard...its not tat im accusing you all of not working hard, but its simply not enough.Even i feel that im not training hard enough..be it water training...running,push ups...simple...enough CANNOT exist in our dictionary...this word will simply lead to our downfall...
Sometimes i may seem nice and help you all...but i have a confession...im actually really selfish...i didnt really like sacrificing my training by slowing down to wait...i never really had to when i was in running...every trainin was juz run as fast as you can...never let your opponent catch you...but i guess its not tat beneficial to the team. When i came into NJ canoeing...its was Liyana and Meishan tat slowed down to help me...i was really useless when i first joined...cudnt even manage an easy paddle...and dun even talk about sprints...but im not sure when...i juz got beter and beter through all the hell trainings they put me through...Olivia and Sze also helped a lot...n not forgetting Cheryl n Flo...im sorry for forgetin all tat, having such selfish thoughts.for now...i guess aft admitin my mistakes...i hope to correct it...for the team, for all those tat have helped me b4...and if i ever think selfishly again...plz juz slap me on the face to wake up my idea...

girLs, i think we seriously need to consider taking the tagboard down X)
its getting seriously superbly dangerous.
