Yups, that just about summarizes how i feel.

yest, she(i wont mention her name coz unlike her, i noe how it feels to hav your name mentioned in public wout permission) said she wanted to poll some dragonboaters and ask some questions. since i knew her so ok lor...help out mah. it was a chat that lasted 1hr and 20min. it was a casual chat, with me trying to giv as much info bout db as i could, from what i learnt in the team.
>
At least, that was what i thought it was....

This morning, in the Straits Times, it was written: "If you ask me to describe dragon boating in one word,I'd say team bonding, not life jackets." said Ms Lee Su Ling, 19, who used to row with the National Junior College dragon boat team.

hmm...

How could this happen when:
1.I was not told that our private conversation online would be published in the papers the next day. No permission was asked at all. Does poll=interview?
2.I never said my JC/CCA or age at all. Just because she knew all this information, it was used to portray me as if i was representing the njc db team.
>
Worst still, not only was this quoting me witout permission, not the whole conversation was used. The words used were selective.

Here the part of the conversation, totally uncut:
>
she: eh someone commented that in DB, ppl are more concerned over team building and bonding and put less emphasis on safety, comments?
me: like how they put less emphasis on safety?
she: like they dont drill in it
they keep talking about team builing and how impt it is
but dont talk about safety and how impt it is
me: oh
i think its impt to mention safety
but act we oso dun mention it too
i mean like if someone ask us to describe db in one word
ill say teambonding
not lifejacks
but if its durin a db course we'll mention lifejacks
>
Did they quote me saying "i think its impt to mention safety" or "but if its durin a db course we'll mention lifejacks"? As a dragon boater, first thing that comes to my mind when I talk about the team, is how we trained hard together and fought side by side. I won't talk about safety/life jackets. But does that mean I put safety as 2nd place to teambonding? If one of you were gettin in the boat wout a life jacket, and we were alr late for the race, we still would all insist that you get your life jacket before rowing off. Not saying it always does not mean we have disregard for safety, it is because it is already part of us.
>
I felt as if i was asked 100 qns, and only part of 1 ans was used. I dont mind being portrayed as the bad guy. But im sorry that i got the team involved in it. I just felt that it made NJ dragonboating seem as if we don't care about safety(even dou i kept emphasizing that we have our life jackets on at all times, of coz no nid to mention this in the paper too).
>
I apologise to you pple for being careless and stupid enough to trust her. Actually i sent her an sms to her to say i was v angry n didnt want to talk to her again. She said she just typed out what i said and passed it to somebody. Is there a difference? I dont think i have been so mean to someone before, but somehow i wasnt sorry for sending that sms to her. Mayb im becoming bad too.

I'll be coming up with a letter to send to the straits times. This has gone way off my be-nice limit.
